This polished Bone Awl is made from a deer bone. It was found in Val Verde Co., Texas and, along with the other large bone awl just listed, were the 2 best awls in a collection of 28. This particular awl is unique in that it must have been used to work fatty hides as it absorbed oil to the point that it has become almost translucent with age. A truly unique item for those who collect only the finest!
