Start with the chert--I would use the hornstone classification, but the material may be more in the Hopkinsville Chert, aka St. Genevieve Chert (and a few other names I've spotted for the flint)--the Hardin point has a very good length of 3&1/8" by 1&1/4"--very slightly over 5/16" max thickness, so it definitely qualifies as a strong blade--note the flaking, though, it as the same type flaking on the blade as a Warrick Point-maybe the classification should be Warrick but the base is more Hardin. Too, the auriculate base is ground--decent grinding, interrupted a little by use-made nicks on the corners of the stem, but not as heavy as most Warricks I've handled. The barbs show some wear, the knife was likely used for years, the Early Archaic hunter adapted the piece, sharpened it any number of times, kept good blade edges. Note in the close up, there's a shaft sharpening indention on one blade edge--you can feel the work polish, see a slight shine to the flint from that abrasion. Good point/ knife, lifetime guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $7.00 with checks or M.O>s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal--Roy A.
