Warrick County, Indiana, a piece that's been in my collection almost fifteen years now--fine grade Pinetree that's made of a "grade" of Hornstone, some inclusions in the flint so I know it isn't our typical Harrison County, Indiana, Hornstone. Length is very slightly over 2&1/2" by 1&13/16" with thickness being only 1/4"--good numbers, they tell you the piece has excellent symmetry. The base is intact, but does show where the Pinetree Culture knapper made tiny adjustments to make the blade head fit the handle--whether this was used as a knife or possibly a projectile (I expect it was a knife). The basal edge is auriculate, conforming to the thinner edge of the flake the knapper began working. The tip is the one thing that keeps the price from being higher--an impact fracture to the edge of the tip (see the close up pics from each face). The fracture happened in Early Archaic usage, it dates the same 7500 BP age as the guaranteed authentic blade. I pay the shipping, it's included with the price. Payment: you can send a check or a money order, but please note I do not use paypal--Roy A.
