A Jersey County, Illinois, area creek found Steuben made from Kaolin Flint--slightly over 2&5/8" by 1"; tip is a dark red color. A small chip on the end of the tip shows--wish it was perfect, but this is the way the piece was found (never was washed, some soil still in the crevices of the Kaolin Flint). The Steubens are part of that Late Hopewell Culture point group (Bakers Creek and Lowe Points from KY & Indiana), sometimes having basal grinding (no grinding on this point), well made and thin, 1/4" thickness except for a 3/8" stack in the hafting area.
